French artist and designer, Didier Naert, has brought his stunning collection of what you might call “artography” to Dubai. What you can expect to see is vintage Parisian captures fused with modern drawings, offering a captivating insight into fifties and sixties Paris life, with the added dimension of an imagined world going beyond the frame of the photograph.
The captivating exhibition is presented courtesy of Alliance Française Dubai and ANTIDOTE, and is being showcased at the Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, in JBR Walk.
Some of the photos are from French film sets from the sixties, while other pictures capture life in the capital post-WW2. What Naert manages to accomplish, is really quite spectacular. Creating a world around a photo, often introducing an imaginative narrative to accompany two pictures taken in different areas at different times, yet managing to tie them together with his drawings. If you like seeing art in Dubai, this is one exhibition that simply shouldn’t be missed. Check out some of Didier Naert’s work below.
