Another large event is coming to our fair city in September, and this time it’s targeted at the gaming fraternity. The Games 15 Festival is set for an introduction to Dubai, and it will be held at the Dubai International Marine Club next to Barasti from the 10th – 12th September 2015.
Gaming isn’t just for sad acts and pre-pubescent bed-wetters you know? These days it’s socially acceptable to have a PlayStation even if you’re aged 30+ (it’s for Netflix and stuff babe, honest! No, don’ t look in that draw entitled “Games”).
The Games 15 Festival is the largest eSports tournament the Middle East has, and it will see six of the top gamer teams from across the world come over to compete for the grand prize of $250,000. Seems an unreal prize when you consider that the winners of the doubles at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Tournament in 2015 walked away with $130,000.
Exercise -Why Bother?
I guess the message here is don’t go out and play sports or do exercise when you’re young, stay in and perfect your virtual gaming capabilities and you can tour the world just like a real sports person and earn better prize money, without the need to do exercise and stuff.
Anyway, if you want to go as a spectator, you can watch the best gamers in the business, as well as being treated to advance previews of new releases from Sony and Microsoft. There’s also the promise of the odd celeb popping in, and a whole host of other attractions onsite too.
